La professeure Bana JABRI est une gastro-entérologue et immunologiste d'origine syrienne et arménienne, spécialisée dans les maladies inflammatoires de l'intestin, notamment la maladie cœliaque. Née à Damas, elle a déménagé en Allemagne puis en France durant son enfance. Elle a obtenu son doctorat en médecine à l'Institut Pasteur en 1991 et a poursuivi sa formation aux National Institutes of Health aux États-Unis. Sa carrière l'a menée de l'hôpital Necker-Enfants malades à l'Université de Princeton, avant de rejoindre l'Université de Chicago en 2002, où elle a occupé divers postes, culminant avec la chaire Sara et Harold Lincoln Thompson en 2018. En janvier 2025, elle a été nommée directrice de l'Institut Imagine, dédié à la recherche sur les maladies génétiques rares.

Born in Damascus, she moved to Germany and later to France during her childhood. She earned her medical degree from the Pasteur Institute in 1991 and furthered her training at the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Her career includes positions at Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital, Princeton University, and the University of Chicago, where she held the Sara and Harold Lincoln Thompson Professorship starting in 2018. In January 2025, she became the director of the Imagine Institute, focusing on research into rare genetic diseases.
